A legendary hero rises to combat a demonic plague, and while they may tear him limb from limb, he'll pull himself together again and again in NeverDead, Konami's next big fantasy horror title.
Designed by Shinta Nojiri of Metal Gear Acid fame, NeverDead is a two-gun action game in the same vein as Devil May Cry. With his butterfly-inspired sword and an arsenal of pistols, the legendary hero battles supernatural forces across a sprawling cityscape in a near-future, dark-fantasy world.
While we knew about the game in name, the full nature of the title was revealed during Konami's 2010 E3 press conference, as liveblogged by our own Stephen Totilo.
Development is being handled by Rebellion, the developer behind Aliens vs. Predator.
"For NEVERDEAD, we‘ve introduced some truly exciting new forms of gameplay and sword fighting, including a unique healing mechanism originally designed and conceived by former members of Kojima Productions," explained Martin Schneider, European Marketing and PR Director for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "Their contributions, and those of the development team, have helped forge a great new action IP to add to Konami's vast lineup."
Check out the first screens and get ready to fall to pieces when NeverDead hits the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in the near-future.
