Nintendo's latest trailer for their upcoming kart racer gives us a glimpse at the various pretty new tracks we'll race on, the items we'll annoy opponents with, and... damn, that boomerang looks super irritating.
The trailer landed alongside Nintendo's big 36-minute Mario Kart 8 Direct, which you can see here. It's significantly heavier on the information, if you're into that kind of thing.
Mario Kart 8 will be released on the Wii U on May 30.

There seems to be a lot of positive reaction to the new Mario Kart footage, which is great, because it looks super fun. But anyone remember Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed? That game is great, and, regardless of who did it first, the transforming-vehicle-mid-race mechanic was done very well. People seem so excited for Mario Kart 8, but I really wish those fans had discovered Sonic Racing when it was out a few years ago, because it didn't get the attention it deserved. I consider myself a "core" gamer (over 1200 hours in Skyrim), but I must have put 300 hours into Sonic Racing. Still, between Mario Kart 8 and the upcoming Smash Bros this fall, I think I'll finally be getting a Wii U (for which Sonic Racing Transformed is also available!)
