Although you might not want to. It stars a girl and the robot protecting her. That setup tends to lend itself pretty well to tear-jerking twists. If that's not an issue, The Girl and the Robot might just be the adventure game you're looking for.
The description on its recently opened Kickstarter page explains the game's influences: a thrilling adventure in the vein of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Ico, paired with a story and world reminiscent of those seen in Studio Ghibli flicks and traditional fairy tales. You control an (of course) unnamed girl and her trusty robotic sidekick, trapped in the castle of an evil queen, solving puzzles and beating up baddies using the girl's agility and the robot's brawn.
The developers are obviously aiming to make something charming and atmospheric, and by the looks of it, they're succeeding. The campaign's here, if you want to take a look. Should the project reach its humble goal of $15,000 CAD, The Girl and the Robot is promised to arrive on PC (and possibly PS4 and Wii U) by the end of next year.
