Majora's Mask Cartoon Is Real Good

Majora’s Mask: Terrible Fate is a fan-made animated short that serves as an origin story for Skull Kid. If Nintendo ever get serious about making Zelda cartoons again, they could do a lot worse than this kind of art style.

This is a cool little Zelda story! But it’s also a showcase for just how damn professional these “fan” projects are getting in 2016. It was made by Ember Labs, and was a collaboration between their film-making and the music of Theophany (you can get the soundtrack here).

This was cool to watch, on top of being really technically impressive as far as fan films go. To my completely untrained eye, this looks like something out of a professional animation studio.

I don’t think the fairies were ever supposed to be physical balls with wings, though. They were tiny fairies obscured by the bright light they give off.
