LEGO’s partnership with Nintendo has lead to some of the cooler sets the Danish toy company has put out in recent year. Maybe that’s just my own nostalgia talking as a Nintendo kid, but we’ve now got retro consoles and other huge interactive sets built primarily for display. Though that doesn’t mean they’ve left behind where LEGO really stands out. That’s playing. They’re toys after all and the numerous Mariko Kart really highlight just how expansive this partnership has gotten.

A handful of these LEGO Mario Kart sets happen to be on sale at the moment too.
First up is this standard kart which features a pit crew outfitted Toda complete with wrench in hand. It’s normally just $20, but after a 20% discount, that comes down even lower to just $16.
But there is a major problem going on here. Look at the marking on the front of the vehicle, the insignia on the glider. You see it right? That’s an M… a red M. This is Mario’s kart. So what in Rosalina’s name is this Toad doing driving it? What did he do to Mario? I don’t know if he knocked his ass out with a green shell (comes included), the even deadlier red shell (also included), or perhaps the deadliest weapon of all—a simple banana peel (you bet it’s included). He’s also got that wrench, who knows what he could have done with that? Well, we do, we’ve all played Clue.
There is a second set on sale right now as well. This bundled set of racing karts included a red Biddybuddy vehicle along with a green Tri-Speeder. These two are piloted than none other than Baby Luigi and… Baby Mario? It’s him. But as a baby. Does he know? Is he aware that Toad is going to do something to his future self? Is that why he’s here? To stop Toad? It’s gonna have a tough time. The babies are only equipped with one shell each, a red and a green. Their set also comes with six buildable balloons to use as target practice, but that still might not be enough.
If you want a chance of taking down Toad, you’ll have to pick up the Baby Mario and Baby Luigi Mario Kart LEGO set while it’s still 20% off. That brings the price down from $30 to just $24 for a limited time.
And then there’s Yoshi. The Yoshi Bike set is also 20% off right now, dropping from $15 to $12. Yoshi seems like the only one here not up to anything…just riding along. Probably the safest pick in this whole lineup.
Coolest of all with these sets, they’re have an interactive sound effect. If you connect a LEGO Mario, LEGO Yoshi, LEGO Luigi, or LEGO Peach to the driver’s seat, you’ll hear them make noise and display visual effects. However, if you put this Toad in the hot seat, he won’t talk. He won’t saying nothin’. He’s taking what he’s done to the grave.
