UncategorizedAliens: Colonial Marines Is a Living Tableau of Death, Bloody and Alien
Aliens: Colonial Marines is everything I’d want in an Aliens game starring tragically overconfident space Marines. It is spectacular with sprays of gunfire, acidic green blood, and horrific death. It is the rolling retreat of Marines in the face of an ocean of crawling, face-hugging, meat-rending xenomorphs. But before we get into the half hour…

UncategorizedYou Wanted a Serious Flight Sim, You Got One
Many hardcore fans were upset at the demise of Microsoft’s Flight Simulator franchise, as it was one of the only viable ways to fly a plane in a video game and not have to blow stuff up. For you —and if you can stomach the shift to choppers—there is now Take On Helicopters It’s a…

UncategorizedShouldn’t Sonic Always Be Faster than Mario?
Another Olympics, another Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. This time, it’s the 2012 London Olympics. Headed to the Wii and the 3DS, Sega lists the game as “Coming Soon”, which must mean before the 2012 Olympics.

UncategorizedThis Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Trailer Spoils The End of AC: Brotherhood
Don’t watch this trailer if you didn’t finish Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. If you did, this is a tease of what happens with series hero Desmond in this fall’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Looks to me like the Desmond parts of this game will be like the virtual-reality training missions of Brotherhood. But that’s just a hunch.…

UncategorizedThe Best Team Fortress 2 Players Can Now Sell Their Names For Advertising
Danish advertising firm Uncle Grey, in an effort to hire the kind of people they were looking for, decided against paying magazines and newspapers and websites for job ads, and instead paid some Team Fortress 2 players instead. Those players had to change their names to that of the company, and while playing had to…

A Most Beautiful (And Totally Fake) Vita
“Vita” isn’t only the name of Sony’s upcoming portable. It’s also a character in the anime Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s. A kwinky-dink! Thus, the Japanese internet coughs up this Photoshop: a Vita PS Vita. Vita (the character) voice actress Asami Sanada tweeted that she’s “super happy” about the Vita moniker and even joked about…

The Wii U Has Been Beaten to the Punch by an…iPad Game
One of the big draws of Nintendo’s new Wii U console is the fact it can stream games to a controller and also use that controller as a secondary screen. While Wii U won’t be out until 2012, though, this iPad game can do it a lot sooner. Real Racing 2 HD, already one of…

Fun Facts about the Wii U Controller’s Size
Bigger isn’t necessarily better, but it’s not necessarily bad, either. The Wii U Controller is large. No biggie! Website Electricpig put the Wii U Controller into context, noting fun facts like you could apparently fit seven Wii Remotes across the Wii U Controller’s face, and that it’s 10 percent longer than the Wii console and…

UncategorizedPayday: The Heist Looks Neat, But…
SOE’s Payday: The Heist, an upcoming shooter for the PS3 and PC, looks kind of fun. I like how it’s short, but in the way it structures its missions encourages repeat play and experimentation. All those dead cops and security guards is a little off-putting, though. I mean, some games get away with using them…

Sony “May Never Know” What the Hackers Stole, Who They Were
The Sony PlayStation Network is back online, but it was hacked back in April. Sony’s servers were breached and over seventy million accounts were compromised. Sony still doesn’t seem to be any closer to nabbing the individuals who carried out the attack. “We do know that the information was accessed,” Sony Computer Entertainment boss Kaz…

E3 Day Two Recap: the Best, the Worst and Everything in Between
With the major press conferences done and dusted, E3’s second day (well, third) let us get on with what we came here to do: kick some ass and play some games. We didn’t actually kick much ass because we are pacifists and we are cowards, but we did play some games, some of which we…

The Wii U Might Be Too Little, Too Late
In 2005, Nintendo showed off the controller for its then-upcoming home console at the Tokyo Game Show. The console was still codenamed the Revolution, and the motion controller was nothing short of just that. The debut blew people’s minds. You could feel it in the room. For the first several years of this console generation,…

Remember the PS Vita Memory and Game Cards (Don’t Forget!)
Sony’s already showed off its (apparently) proprietary PS Vita memory cards. At the E3 gaming expo, Sony showed them off again. This time was different. The PS Vita memory cards on display were 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB cards. The game cards are also on display. There was also a card case, and an official…
