Top Smash Player Lands Perfect Donkey Kong Combo

At this past weekend’s Umebura Japan Major, Jason “Mew2King” Zimmerman clinically executed a “ding-dong,” a combo that has elevated DK into the competitive meta-game. A play on words that references Diddy Kong’s “hoo-hah” combo, “ding-dong” is jargon for a combination where Donkey Kong players use his throw to launch someone up in the air, then…

The hierarchy of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gets a shakeup at the IEM XII Championship in Sydney, Australia as the European powerhouses make room for the resurgence of South America’s SK Gaming. Even Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač, bought earlier this year for $500,000, couldn’t save FaZe Clan. The shadow hanging over the IEM Sydney grand finals was…

Slime-san Is A Lo-Fi Platformer That Wants To Sweep You Off Your Feet

Slime-San is the type of twitchy, lighting-quick platformer I‘m happy to spend hours dying in. Filled with micro levels similar to Super Meat boy, the fourth project from the New York studio Fabraz takes the labyrinths of classic games like Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong Country and condenses them down into a single screen…

Demolition Paves Way For Rocket League Team’s Clean Sweep

Among the similarities between Rocket League and soccer is the physicality of the game, though rather than red cards, Rocket League opts to simply have cars explode when they collide with enough velocity. Today was Selfless’ first time competing in the North American Rocket League Championship playoffs, and coming in as the no. 5 seed,…

Overwatch Team Wastes Four Ultimates Trying To Take Down Roadhog

Pro tip: don’t engage your ultimate unless you’re sure you’ll actually get to use it. It seems like the best Rodhog players are always playing for the other team, and I’m sure that’s how the Soldier 76, Genji, and McCree felt when they and their fellow Roadhog got absolutely destroyed in Massev’s recent Play of…

For Twitch Streamer Who Got Swatted On A Plane, Notoriety Is A Double-Edged Sword

Since the end of last week, news reports have been circulating about Paul “Ice Poseidon” Denino, a streamer who got swatted while on an airplane and subsequently got banned from Twitch. In his eyes, he was booted unjustly, chewed up and spat out by Twitch’s new “IRL” section. However, this isn’t Denino’s first brush with…

Hacker Makes the ‘Nintendo PlayStation’ Fully Operational

An original prototype of Sony’s PlayStation, dating back to the company’s short-lived partnership with Nintendo, has now been completely restored to life by popular console modder Ben Heckendorn. Created in the early 1990s, this machine is little more than a Super Nintendo Entertainment System with a CD-ROM drive. It would have represented Sony’s entry into…

Prey’s Mouse And Keyboard Controls Are Really Good

Most big video games these days seem designed to work best with a controller. PC mouse and keyboard controls are often an afterthought. Prey is the unusual, welcome exception. Since Prey is also on consoles, I assumed it’d work fine with a controller. I figured it’d have a four-way hotbar tied to the D-Pad, combat…
