Kingdom Hearts is a series full of mysteries and dense lore that only the biggest of fans can fully understand or explain. A mobile game called Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link was once meant to be a key part of the ongoing Square Enix/Disney crossover, specifically having characters and events related to Kingdom Hearts IV. Though Square Enix cancelled the game in 2025, a video is circulating around the internet that a leaker claims was meant to be part of an early cinematic in the game. If true, it could offer a hint as to what might be coming in Kingdom Hearts IV, though fans are still trying to sort out exactly what they’re looking at.

The alleged Missing-Link cinematic was first posted on 4chan, and has since been shared to other social media through embeds and a Google Drive link. It shows a squad of astronaut-like keyblade wielders facing a giant Heartless. What we did know about Missing-Link was that it would focus on the world of Scala ad Caelum, or the origin point of all the worlds in Kingdom Hearts. After the Pragmata-cosplaying keyblade wielders defeat the Heartless, the dark void around the battle disappears, revealing what appears to be Quadratum, a world based on real-world Japan. Fans theorize that the squad we see here could have been soldiers from Scala ad Caelum, who were exploring Quadratum, which is going to be heavily featured in Kingdom Hearts IV.

Some fans who took part in Missing-Link‘s beta say this doesn’t quite match up with anything they saw in the test phase, however, so whether or not this is actually from an incomplete Missing-Link cinematic or is something else is unclear at this time.

“This looks absolutely nothing like Missing-Link, sorry,” a redditor writes. “The ML style was more steam punk. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was a key blade mod on something else or some fan art.”

Some have also brought up the possibility that the video could be AI-generated, but that has also been disputed on 4chan and elsewhere. The leaker has also posted other screenshots they claim are from Missing-Link, including images of what appears to be Brain, a character who had a prominent role in some of the Kingdom Hearts mobile games that are now gone forever. While the legitimacy of the video is up for debate, places like the Kingdom Hearts subreddit have been deleting and banning these leaks without prejudice.

Fellow wielders,

To remain consistent with policy from Square Enix and with our community’s Discord server, we have made the difficult decision to not allow Missing-Link leaks at this time.

This includes screenshots, videos, music, art/screenshots/assets, narrative pieces, story, etc.

We apologize for the inconvenience this causes, but please be patient with us as we navigate these waters.

Thank you for your understanding and may your hearts be your guiding key.

For now, Square Enix hasn’t put out any official statement, so we reached out to the company for comment and will update this story if we hear back.

Update 7/20/2026, 9:25 a.m. ET: The full cinematic has been released, and confirms that this leak is from Missing-Link. It’s kind of crazy that Square Enix must have been far along in development before ultimately deciding to cancel the game if they had a full opening cinematic ready to go. I guess we’ll see if the company integrates some of this story into Kingdom Hearts IV.
