Exophase is a database for tracking your trophies and achievements across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, and yesterday, it started posting what seemed to be Steam achievements for unreleased games. It started catching the internet’s notice with Persona 6, possibly revealing some of the actual story details for a game that Atlus has mostly kept under wraps. Now, several games that haven’t been announced yet are starting to show up on the site, as well as potential major spoilers for Kingdom Hearts IV.
Site owner Mike Bendel claims this may have been an error on Steam’s end rather than a malicious leak on the site’s. He explains on a ResetEra thread:
Yes I am the owner of the site and this is what appears to have happened. Seems like a possible screw up on Valve’s end, a bunch of games with achievements that should be private are accessible through the API right now and that’s why they got scanned into the site. I usually never see games without an actual name pop up with achievements, yet over the past hour or so a bunch have (when there’s an unknown name we just set it to the AppID).
The result is that several games, including ones that haven’t even been announced, are showing up on the site, which Gematsu was kind enough to round up in one place, but some standouts include Fable, Judas, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Kingdom Hearts IV. The last of those may have gotten its Disney-based worlds exposed by the achievements list. Thus far, Square Enix has only confirmed Sora will be visiting a world based on Pixar’s Coco, but now we might know other places he might be visiting. - Imagineer Planet (Possibly a reference to Disney parks and development)
There may be some less obvious reveals in this leaked achievements list, but this is what we’re working with. We’ve reached out to Square Enix for comment on the situation and will update the story if we hear back.
