K-Pop Pick Of The Day: Return

Track: Return | Artist: Lee Seung Gi | Album: Forest
Kotaku EastEast is your slice of Asian internet culture, bringing you the latest talking points from Japan, Korea, China and beyond. Tune in every morning from 4am to 8am.

Lee Seung Gi may be one of the most prolific Korean celebrities of our generation. He started off as a singer but soon branched out to find success in both variety show hosting and acting. You might’ve recognized his face from popular shows like 1 Night 2 Days, or from K-dramas, like the rom-com My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho.

His (very handsome) face aside, though, Lee Seung Gi remains first and foremost a musician. Nowhere is that more evident than in this 2012 release, Return; listen to this, and let his calm, gentle vocals wash over you. If you don’t feel some semblance of inner peace within yourself, you may have no soul. Get yourself checked out.

(Anecdote: after I was rejected by a girl in college, I spent all night listening to this song down by the lakeshore, watching the lights twinkle in the distance across the water. It was super sad.)
