Judge Castlevania Judgment's Graphics For Yourself

Konami's Castlevania fighting game might not be exactly what fans were hoping for, but from this first batch of screenshots there's no denying that Castlevania Judgment for the Wii has a certain aesthetic appeal to it. Besides, trying to make an enjoyable traditional Castlevania game in 3D have failed miserably, so why not? Judgment could very well deliver the 3D versions of our favorite characters that we desire without us having to suffer through another botched attempt at recreating 2D greatness like Castlevania 64 or Lament of Innocence.

Technically speaking, yes the game does look good.

That said, I never liked IGA's Castlevania games and I don't expect this radical departure to change my mind. The character designs stink to high heaven. And really, unless its Mario, changing genre like this is usually a terrible idea. You saw what happened to Soul Calibur. Legends isn't terrible, but against the legacy of the series it just looks even worse.

Legacy of Darkness is honestly my favorite Castlevania game, and yes, I have played through Symphony of the Night and most of IGA's 2D Castlevanias. I hate grinding in Final Fantasy games, why the hell would I want to grind in my Castlevania? I honestly think the N64 Castlevania games carry on the spirit of the originals better than the Castleroids do.
