Never one to turn down a promotional event, Japanese celebrity Uno Kanda gets down and dirty for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
The model-turned-actress-turned-fashion designer is best known for her pantyhose and underwear designs. That, and having an obscene number of wedding ceremonies.
Call of Duty: Black Ops might be the biggest game launch ever in the West, but this launch isn't in the West. That isn't stopping Square Enix, the game's Japanese publisher, from giving it the old college try. Square Enix is making a big mainstream push for the game that includes a promotional theme song by pop princess Namie Amuro, and here, Uno Kanda.
Kanda, 35, isn't known as a big gamer, but she seems to enjoy dressing up. The pantyhose line she "produces" is widely sold in Japan and popular with women. Here she is promoting Avatar! Regardless of her gamer cred, Kanda is tabloid and talkshow fodder, so just by having her show up in camo, Square Enix can maximize exposure for Call of Duty: Black Ops by having gossip reporters ask Kanda about her failed marriage.
Kanda married pachinko tycoon Takuo Nishimura at Tokyo's Meiji Shrine back in 2007. Japan Today reports that the couple held six separate wedding ceremonies in locales like Saipan, Guam and Hawaii.
When checking out Call of Duty: Black Ops running on a 3D television, Kanda pointed out, "If you also bought the 3D television, this might be a good way for married couples to fight." Or even if they didn't buy it.
