It's so hot! There's a good way to pass the time: Watch anime. And recently, male and female anime viewers were polled over their favorite shows of this summer.

As Zaikei reports, download music site Recochoku polled 578 people between July 25 and August 5, asking them to name which anime of the summer they liked. Out of those polled, 64.8 percent were women and 35.2 percent were men. So, yes, it's not an exact fifty-fifty split, so take that into account (and as well as with any poll, the results may vary).

Let's have a look:

10. Barakamon

9. Akame ga KILL!

8. Aldnoah.Zero

7. Terror in Resonance

6. Tokyo Ghoul

5. Blue Spring Ride

4. Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus

3. Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

2. Sword Art Online II

1. Free! Eternal Summer

How do these picks stack up with your favorite anime of this summer? In case you missed it, check out Kotaku's summer 2014 anime guide.

I'm amazed every year at how much Anime continues to be churned out. I'd be interested in finding out the average profit margins.

You have the big ones that can have additional merchandise, limited edition DVD releases, and movies and such. But there are loads that last a single season, never to be seen again.
