We last checked in on Mercenary Kings in June. It looked good then. With new screens and art (like the Bryan O'Malley-penned piece above), it's looking even better now.

Being worked on by a bunch of people responsible for the Scott Pilgrim game (and the delightful Wizorb), the developers for this PC-only side-scroller are giving people the chance to design in-game weapons and appear in the game as a Metal Slug-esque hostage.

Sorry to be a bastard but I am repulsed by absolutely everything related to the Scott Pilgrim franchise. From what I've seen, it seems to follow the "making references for the sake of making references" trope I see in "The Big Bang Theory," "Family Guy," "Robot Chicken," etc. As if making some stupid reference without any joke behind it is somehow funny.
