Here Are the Oldest Pants in the World

Apparently! That's according to Science News. These trousers were recently discovered in Chinese tombs and radiocarbon dating says they are over 3,000 years old. Researchers are calling these the oldest pants in the world.

A graveyard excavation in Yanghai, China turned up two ancient herders wearing wool trousers designed for horseback riding. Their trousers were not made by cutting cloth, but rather, each section was shaped on the loom and then sewn together to create the clothing.

Those designs on the legs look rather stylish.

Early Europeans and Asians wore gowns, but those outfits certainly weren't ideal once horse riding began to emerge between 3,400 and 4,000 years ago. The trousers are older than the 2,600-year-old "Cherchen Man" who was buried in burgundy pants. Likewise, stylish!
