The North American version of Ragnarok Online 2, the sequel to Gravity's massively popular 2003 MMORPG, is now in open beta. Registration happens here and the client can be found here. Above is the official trailer from a month back.
I played the first Ragnarok all of middle school. I stopped playing at around high school, and that is also around when I heard about RO2. Waited for it, heard it was going very poorly, while it kept on trying to restructure itself and find its place among the countless 3D mmos on the market. I'm just a bout to finish college and it's only just now releasing the english open beta.
I know we always get things much later but it seems like this game has been in development for far too long. The technology that was used to create it is already so far outdated.
The original had awesome music and a charming isometric art design that could stand through the test of time. I really wish they just stuck with the same style but with updated pixels, skills, monsters and mechanics. Now it's just looks like another 3D MMORPG to throw into the pile. But hell I'll give it a shot just to see the world again.
