How To Drive Away From a Tsunami

Amazingly, videos of tsunami waves coming ashore in Japan this week showed many people driving away from the water. If you find yourself in a similar situation, how can you increase your chances of survival from nil to slim? [Jalopnik]

Driving from a tsunami? Wouldn't know; I'm in a land-locked area of the USA.

I do remember how, when I was 12 years old, there was a mass of tornadoes that struck the midwest area of the country (this was in 1974). We were all herded into the basement of our house, and among the phone calls my mother was getting that was forcing her to leave the basement and answer, was one from one of my older brothers, letting her know that they were all right, and that they were just "outrunning a tornado" (he was with my eldest brother, who was still on R&R from the military).

He had a 'Cuda at the time I recall (he was big into muscle cars, like many of the guys back then), so when they got caught out during this time, they simply outran it ^_^.
