You see the Death Star being built in Revenge of the Sith, but only from a distance. You see the second Death Star under construction during Return of the Jedi, but you don't actually see it being constructed. There's no extended footage of imperial workers swinging space hammers, popping galactic rivets or doubling their efforts.

The image above, though, by Stephen Chang, shows how you might actually go about building something so big space smugglers would think it's a moon.

Chang, who works at game developers Lucasarts, did that pic and those below for the Force Unleashed games, which take place between the two film trilogies.

DISCUSSION

Alright here's something for you guys to chew on. We all know The Force Unleashed introduces Starkiller to Star Wars canon. Many of you dismiss it, much like Episodes I, II and III, but consider this.

Originally LucasArts planned to release a third Force Unleashed game. Nobody knows for sure what the plot was, but I can take a very educated guess. I worked QA on both projects, and although I cannot state this as fact since nobody truly knows but here goes.

After the events of The Force Unleased II we have Starkiller who has basically sided with the Rebel Alliance (at the very least he won't be working for Vader or Palpatine anymore. Now we got strong hints that parts of The Force Unleashed III would involve the Death Star in some way (I cannot source this). To me it made perfect sense to have Starkiller be the one who actually gives the Death Star plans to the Rebel Alliance. With that in my mind I find myself wanting to have a Force Unleashed III. I feel that such a tie in would be pretty good to be honest.

Ponder that for a while, guys.
