Just when I thought I was sick to death of seeing these kind of things, along comes a Tolkien tribute to blow my socks off.
This is Tolkien’s Hobbiton, recreated in Minecraft. It’s at 1:58 scale, on a map that’s 3500x2500 blocks in size, and is terrifyingly “accurate” not just in how it sticks to the depictions of the area in the books/movies, but to the laws of nature as well (one of the team is a geologist).
What’s cool is that this isn’t just some bland recreation from a map; the place looks alive, full of little details like crops and hiking trails.
You can see more pics here. Oh, and if you’re wondering why everything looks so nice and shiny, remember: there are ways to make Minecraft look nice and shiny.
