Hideo Kojiima made Metal Gear Solid 4. There was speculation that the game creator would move onto other projects. But then he returned and began work on another Metal Gear game, Peace Walker.
"Not only the Kotaku readers but I myself am interested in doing something besides Metal Gear," he told Kotaku in 2009.
"If you write that 'Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more' every day on Kotaku, and write to the CEO of Konami and tell him that," he added, "then it might be easier for me to make non-Metal Gear games."

At a recent roundtable event, Metal Gear Rising producer Shigenobu Matsuyama said this through a translator: "I've been asked a lot, 'Is this going to be a side-story or spin-off to the MGS series?'...but what I'm positioning is that there will be a Hideo Kojima game that is MGS, but what we are planning as Kojima Productions is have this Raiden Rising as almost as a standard so that there's an MGS and the Rising going back-and-forth in the future."
And that kinda doesn't make any sense! So Konami clarified to website Shacknews: "Hideo Kojima will continue working on Metal Gear Solid games." And that doesn't really address what Matsuyama said, but there you go, from Konami, "Hideo Kojima will continue working on Metal Gear Solid games."
Remember when Hideo Kojima made games that weren't Metal Gear?
Neither do I.
As much as MGS is an enjoyable series, it would be nice to see him really flex his muscle as a game designer, move out of his comfort zone and try something new. Otherwise, the series could get real stale, real fast.
