Video game writing is still in its infancy. It's a baby, so to speak. But, it's maturing. Mirror's Edge writer Rhianna Pratchett says the key to integrate scribes into the team.
According to Pratchett, "I think far more developers are aware of the need for writers but they don’t really know how to integrate them into the team... I’ve been on projects where I haven’t seen the game!" The good thing, she says, is that developers are realizing they need writers, but they don't know how to use them.
"There’s a tendency to put writers in boxes," says Pratchett. Nobody puts writers in a box. Nobody.
