With the death of Guitar Hero, the song that launched a thousand YouTube videos makes the leap to Rock Band 3. DragonForce's "Through the Fire and Flames" hits on March 29, with Pro Guitar and Pro Bass support. Ouch.
Ugh. As someone who's managed to beat Through the Fire and Flames and get 4 stars on it on expert guitar difficulty, I'm tired of people and journalists everywhere claiming that song as the most challenging Guitar Hero song. It isn't.
It was the most challenging on-disc song for Guitar Hero 3, sure, but pretty much all the downloadable songs in the Dragonforce track pack for GH3 were even harder. And Steve Ouimette's rendition of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia", which was made a free downloadable song for GH3 as well, completely destroyed Fire and Flames in terms of sheer difficulty. There was simply no comparison at all.
Not only that, but almost all of the songs in the last gig in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock are harder than Through the Fire and Flames, at least when it comes to the plastic guitar.
Now, I'm not saying Fire and Flames is a piece of cake, because it ain't, unless you're a true Guitar Hero Pro (which I am not), but my point is that there's a lot of songs out there that are even more challenging than that one.
