Gameloft Flies Game-Laden Rental iPads Across Australia

Wouldn't it be nice if you could rent an iPad filled with nifty Gameloft-brand game product to keep you occupied during lengthy flights? Next month customers of Australia's Jetstar will find out first hand.

Gameloft has partnered with Jetstar to provide passengers on Australian domestic, trans Tasman and short-haul international flights between Australia and New Zealand and chance to curl up with an iPad packed with 12 entertainment-oozing portable games. Starting next month, iPads stuffed with Real Football, Shrek Kart, Avatar, UNO and N.O.V.A.: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance will be available for to rent for $10 to $15 Australian monies per flight. GT Racing: Motor Academy, Brain Challenge, Blokus, Iron Man 2, Let's Golf! 2, The Settlers and Asphalt 5 will join the lineup in early 2012.

Jetstar passengers don't strike me as the widest possible audience, so perhaps this is only the beginning. Perhaps one day airline passengers will be stacked on top of each other like sardines, jacking info virtual reality to keep them from going inane, and we'll thank Gameloft.
