This is shark week! All week, all the time, all sharks. There are even sharks in your Half-Life 3 answers. Aw, crap. Really? Yes, really.

During an interview with Valve's Gabe Newell, Spike TV asked if there was anything he wanted to say about Half-Life 3. To which Newell responded, "I hate sharks." That's not really a response—it's more like a dodge. No, it is a dodge.

Half-Life 2 came out in 2004, and I guess that means Half-Life 3 (or, for that matter, Episode 3) isn't done yet? Perhaps Valve is waiting for the next generation of consoles to roll out Half-Life 3—that makes the most sense. Perhaps Half-Life 3 is gonna need, dare I say, a bigger boat!

You know what? I don't even care about HL3 anymore.

I've moved on with my life. I loved, and still love, the Half-Life series, but since then I've played many good games, and a few great games. At first I was sort of excited to wait, believing that Valve was simply hard at work making something amazing. Then, as months became years, I grew angry. Where was my Freeman? Why had we heard nothing? More importantly, why had we heard nothing when Valve continued to produce other games? Soon, there were sequels to those other games, and somewhere along the line I just... sort of stopped caring. Half-Life, Black Mesa, City-17, The Citadel and every place in that universe will always hold a special place in my gaming heart, but the world is bigger than one man with a crowbar now. Even if he is the last free man.

Life goes on, whether you like it or not. No one can stop the inexorable march of time. Not even Gordon Freeman.
