Forlorn Band 'The National' Pens Original Dirge for Portal 2

There's nothing but an announcement for now. And while pop songs in games are hardly new, considering how suited The National's music is to a dirty, near-future landscape—and how Valve has already shown themselves how capable they are at integrating songs into a game in Portal 2—I think it's okay to get a little excited about it.

Valve, creator of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced an original song by popular recording artist The National will be included in its upcoming game, Portal 2, when it is released the worldwide the week of April 18.

OK, just checked out a few of their videos on YT. Eh, while I dig the melancholy sound of the music itself, I'm not crazy about the lead singer's voice. Just personal taste. That said, I remain entirely optimistic that whatever song they do for Portal 2 will probably fit perfectly in the context of the game, so no worries here.
