You know that one guy on TikTok who makes the most painstakingly elaborate and accurate chocolate creations you’ve ever seen? Like, so ridiculously elaborate it almost seems…wrong? Well, he’s been doing more video game creations lately, including a Mario, a Pikachu, and the most absurd replica World of Warcraft Onyxia head I’ve ever seen. All out of chocolate.

I’ve been aware of chocolatier Amaury Guichon for a while now, as he tends to crop up on one’s TikTok feed unbidden and it’s very hard to look away. This guy has been making stunning chocolate creations on video for years, with details so intricate the final creations genuinely look like they’re not chocolate at all. Guichon’s chocolate skills have won him plenty of fame, including an eight-episode reality series on Netflix called School of Chocolate and a commission from Rihanna herself.

But I wasn’t ready to find out that Guichon had been dipping into video games more recently. Last year, he made the above chocolate Mario, complete with chocolate Warp Pipe and chocolate Piranha Plant. A few months later, he tackled everyone’s other favorite mascot, Pikachu, sitting atop a PokéBall:

And then just this past March, Guichon cut just a little bit deeper and did an enormous wall-mounted head of Onyxia, an infamous boss from the original base game of World of Warcraft. He even made her breathe smoke! And those eyes!

Per his video description, he seems to have done this in collaboration with Blizzard to promote the new expansion, Midnight, which launched at the same time. Onyxia isn’t present in Midnight to my knowledge, but a brand new housing feature sure is. And if you’ve defeated Onyxia at some point you can mount her head as a trophy on the wall of your house, making this really an advertisement for player housing. It makes sense also for Guichon, who has made many chocolate dragons at this stage, including several that can be mounted on a wall or breathe smoke as Onyxia does.

Watching these videos caused me to return to a question I’ve been pondering since I first saw him: what does this man do with all his chocolate sculptures when he’s finished? Are they all just wasted food? Turns out, no. Guichon told Eater back in 2022 that they do not waste chocolate—chocolate can be melted down and reused for other sculptures, but apparently if kept at an appropriate temperature and humidity level, sculptures can last for years as decorative pieces. So who knows, maybe that Onyxia head is just hanging out on a wall somewhere at a chocolate school, just waiting for someone to, ironically, take a big bite out of it.
