Facebook Game Satire Continues With 'Cow Clicker Blitz'

Cow Clicker, the send-up of social gaming absurdity, has expanded its parody of all things Facebook with an application platform that offers "seamless bovine integration." Cow Clicker Blitz is a proof-of-concept of the robust leverages it can architect. Or something.

Ian Bogost, the games scholar who built Cow Clicker, delighted in sending us an embargoed press release on the launch of the Cow Clicker API. "Now you can leverage the intrinsic incentives of cow clicking to improve user experience and retention in your business," read the one-pager.

What does that mean? Well, clicking cows in any "Cowclickified" application earns them clicks in the main Cow Clicker game. Since you can only click a cow once every six hours, and demand to click cows is up 5 million clicks over what it was this time last year (which was zero), everyone should want to put a clickable cow on their page.

The Cow Clicker API also offers developers one-stop development, publishing and directory listing with the leading brand in cow-based Facebook ... branding. Or something. All this leads to Cow Clicker Blitz, which corrupts one of the better Facebook games out there, Bejeweled Blitz. The goal of the game, apparently, is to wait six hours between games. Or you may spend "Mooney" to play ahead of schedule.

For Bogost, Blitz and the new suite of development tools were a natural evolution in the trend of clicking virtual cows. "People don't just want one chance to click a cow every six hours," he says. "They want as many opportunities as possible to click a cow every six hours."
