Dungeon Defender Is Tower Defense Of The Ancients

Combine the strategic planning and placement of tower defense with the leveling, skills, and fast-paced combat of defense of the ancients, and you've got Dungeon Defenders, coming this fall to Xbox Live Arcade, the PlayStation Network, and PC.

Developed by Trendy Entertainment using Epic's Unreal Engine 3, Dungeon Defenders might have a generic name, but the gameplay looks to have more than enough character to make up for it. Trendy is calling it tower defense, but with up to four players battling online using four unique character classes, gaining new powers and skills as they level up, I'd say it has a bit more in common with a defense of the ancients type title than anything else.

Players will do battle against increasingly powerful enemies and bosses across fifteen different arenas with multiple game modes. Local four-player split-screen multiplayer is also included, which should make for some excellent multi-friend couch sessions.

As an extra added bonus for PlayStation 3 owners, a post on the PlayStation Blog indicates the game will support both Move and 3D on the console.
