The latest new party member revealed for the Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening expansion is Sigrun, a diminutive Dwarven warrior maiden with a gigantic chip on her shoulder.

As a member of the Legion of the Dead, Sigrun has vowed to die in battle fighting the enemies of Orzammar as penance for...something I'm sure we'll learn about during the course of the new storyline. Don't worry about her being all gloom and doom, however. As BioWare's official description points out, Sigrun is a survivor; she's not gonna give up; she's not gonna stop; she's gonna work harder. Yes, I just paraphrased Destiny's Child. I have no idea where that came from.

"Sigrun craves a chance to prove she is more than a worthless gutter-rat, but it's hard to rush headlong into a battle you won't survive. After all, when you grow up casteless, you learn to fight for everything. You learn that you have to watch out for yourself, because no one else will, and the Stone knows no one's going to miss you when you're dead. Sigrun's a survivor, and old habits die hard."

You know what I like best about Sigrun? Unlike the previously announced Anders and Velanna, she isn't another damned magic-user. Thank goodness.
