Following up on the faux cabbage pet trend that fooled some Western media is this: crab walking. It is not a trend in China!

Just trying to cut this off at the pass before some Western media outlet tries to pass this off as an actual trend—which is what happened with the cabbage nonsense.

As you can see in these photos from Chinese site Guanming Online, there are photos of people walking crabs, yes. However, they are walking crabs as part of a promotional stunt for a Beijing restaurant called The Pirate King. Below, you can see people promoting the restaurant by wearing pirate hats. Wearing pirate hats is also not a trend in China. It should be.

So, as a stunt, this is a success! As a trend, well. It's not a trend. Yet. Dun, dun, dun.
