More info on Destiny’s Rise of Iron DLC has come out ahead of Bungie’s planned announcement tomorrow, and I’m not gonna lie, it sounds incredible.

Update 6/9: Bungie’s announcement stream has concluded with little new information beyond what leaked yesterday. Rise of Iron will cost $30 and will only be on PS4 and Xbox One. As usual, PS4 users will get some timed-exclusive content. As revealed by the trailer that leaked ahead of the announcement, the rocket launcher Gjallarhorn will be back; anyone who gets Rise of Iron will be able to complete a quest and forge their own.

Here’s the official trailer:

Original post follows.

Thanks to the Xbox Store, which is responsible for inadvertently leaking just about everything (h/t Reddit), here’s a description of Rise of Iron, which will be out on September 20.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is the next highly anticipated expansion to the Destiny universe. The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed in the wastes is more dangerous than even they understand. Join Lord Saladin. Journey into the Plaguelands. Learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it is too late.

Includes: • New Story Campaign & Quests • New Armor and Gear • New Weapons • New Raid • Maximum Light Increase • New Strike • New Plaguelands Zone & Social Space • New Crucible Mode & Maps • New Enemy Faction and Bosses

I reported last month that the new raid would be themed around the Fallen, with a twist. Apparently the twist is that they’re goddamned mutants. We should see Rise of Iron in action tomorrow during Bungie’s stream.

Mortal Dictata

This sounds like the sort off stuff they should’ve launched with the base game instead of causing many customers and former fans (like myself) to refuse ever buying from the studio again given how much of a con “Year 1" was.

In the business world they’d liken how the game launched to asset stripping.
