9. Gundham Tanaka

While I’m not sure what the final makeup of 2×2’s survivors will look like, I’m feeling reasonably confident that it will be some combination of the remaining characters on this list. Gundham Tanaka, the Ultimate Breeder, could go either way. His noble sacrifice in Danganronpa 2 (well, as much as you can consider killing a friend to get everyone out of a bad situation can be considered a sacrifice) was a truly standout moment in the original game, as it took him from an edgy bit player to a truly memorable and honorable character, and that was pretty peak. I also think he lived long enough in Danganronpa 2 proper that keeping him around for an extra chapter or two in 2×2 wouldn’t have as much of an impact as doing so with some characters who either died early or didn’t feel like they got quite as complete of an arc before being wiped off the island. Though they’ll have to find someone to take care of his hamsters again if Sonia also bites the dust this time.
