Pogo has been drawing casual gamers to its website for more than a decade. Now EA's casual gaming hub makes the leap to the iPhone, bringing five of its most popular titles along for the ride.
One of the most recognized brands in online casual gaming extends its reach today, as EA releases a free Pogo Games app in the iTunes App Store. The Pogo app includes Poppit!, Word Whomp, Turbo 21, Mahjong Safari, and Sweet Tooth 2, five of the service's most popular games. The app is ad-supported, though players can upgrade to an ad-free version for $2.99. Players that are already members of Club Pogo can enter their login information to receive the ad-free treatment as well.
"We've been entertaining audiences for more than 10 years, and that experience has given us a deep understanding of the types of games that engage people and keep them coming back for more," said Michael Marchetti, SVP & GM Pogo at Electronic Arts. "With the move to iPhone and iPod touch, we're giving people new ways to play, share and compete-now any moment can turn into a fun moment."
Pogo was probably the first place I played a browser-based game on the internet proper, so it holds a special place in my heart. Will I download this app? Hell no. My bathroom time is busy enough as it is.
