The dude in the chair in this video is Nathan Claridge. He's a regular, early 21st-century human being. At the end of a long session with make-up artist Patt Foad, though, he's become killing machine and one-man judiciary system Judge Dredd.

This goes a little above and beyond your standard cosplay. This is Hollywood-level stuff.

This is cool and all. No question that this is quality makeup. But is it actually cosplay? I mean you cannot see any of the resemblance to the guy under the mask, under the costume, so technically it could be anyone under there and the cosplayer becomes irrelevant. I think "Cosplay" is actually when someone has slight or strong resemblance to some character and creates appropriate characteristic outfit to wear. Some make up is ok, but not make up that erases the appearance of the person under the makeup.
