Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Before Josef Fares was directing It Takes Two and swearing about the Oscars at The Game Awards, his first game director credit was on Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. As the title implies, it follows two brothers; you control them with the two sides of your controller. They both have their own advantages, such as the older brother being strong and the younger brother’s small size allowing him to access places his brother can’t. Controlling them in tandem is how you solve the game’s puzzles, and it’s used to great effect mechanically and narratively. Brothers is a tight, short experience that lends itself to play on services like PlayStation Plus.
