1. Pokémon Pokopia

Time will tell if this ends up feeling like recency bias, but right now, Pokopia feels primed to be the biggest spin-off in Pokémon‘s 30 years. The life sim is immaculate, streamlining the often tedious and cumbersome process of building, crafting, and sculpting a town into a breeze with a fulfilling suite of creative tools, all in service of helping your favorite Pokémon feel as if a desolate, post-apocalyptic world could be home again. Pokopia‘s cozy game vibes are built upon some pretty sad foundations, and it makes for one of Pokémon‘s most contemplative entries. This could have easily been a throwaway, low-effort spin-off as Pokémon tried to dip its toe into a new genre, but instead, Game Freak and Omega Force dove right into the deep end, creating something beautiful, creatively rewarding, and joyful to play.
