Bank-Robbing First-Person Shooter Hits PlayStation 3 Next Week

Payday: The Heist will be available for download in North America on Oct. 18 on the PlayStation 3 for $19.99, according to Sony Online Entertainment.

This is the game we said played like the movie Heat.

Watch a new trailer for the game above. Sony says it highlights "one of the most difficult heist scenarios featured in the game."

In Payday: The Heist, players take on the role of criminals engaging in "a number of high-stakes, death defying heists" across six scenarios, with a heavy emphasis on co-op gameplay. According to SOE, "Each scenario makes FPS fans prove their worth—a heist is only successful with a solid trigger finger and cooperative team defenses. Players must work together to accomplish strategic tasks such as guarding key positions, keeping civilians in check, and cracking through various security measures." Replay value comes from the "dynamic environments, adaptive enemy behavior, and shifting entry points" that will make "each play-through of every heist a unique fight." Players choose a specialty — assault, sharpshooter or support — to gain weapons and equipment to progress their character. Other features include the ability to trade hostages for captured crew members, as well as shout-out commands to the co-op crew, hostages, and police.

They haven't said when the game will be out in Europe on PS3. It's also coming to PC, but they haven't said when that's coming either.

This sounds like Swat 4 in reverse, which isn't a bad thing. It will work as long as you get shot at with beanbags and tasers...

That reminds me, where is Swat 5? D:
