Bandai Namco is thinking about charging 500 yen (about US$5) for one hour of play at its arcades in Japan. Currently, one play is 100 yen.


Oh that's a nice model! Do you think arcade gaming will change as a result? I mean - the mentality of arcade gaming has always been "kill the player off as quick as possible so they put in more coins", but now the arcade itself gets more money just for people hanging round the arcade longer. So maybe the style of gaming will be longer-format arcade games. Perhaps more arcade machines with save-data cards and things like that.
