We bring you news of new games. Flickr user liftarn brings you this nice gallery of old video game machines, photographed this month at Retrogathering 2010 in Sweden. Have a look. I can’t name all these wonderful fossils. Can you?
The revival of Dreamcast favorite Crazy Taxi on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network won’t transform the game significantly. I recently got the quickest of looks at a build of Crazy Taxi (Dreamcast Returns) at a Sega showcase event in Manhattan for upcoming games. It is a port of both the original 1999 arcade game…
Marvel’s Super Hero Squad Online is an upcoming MMO for kids, featuring cutesy versions of Marvel characters. At New York Comic-Con, the people behind the game wanted to surprise us, but showing us some of Marvel’s nastiest. Any and every Marvel character can be in this game, one of the game’s developers told an audience…
Lagging in my awareness of Fable III, I’ve missed a few details. I caught up yesterday and learned new things about Fable III. For those coming to this even later than I am, let me toss in some basics. Fable III. It’s a big Xbox 360 medieval adventure that mixes the feel of Arthurian legend…
First we told you the new Bionic Commando side-scroller adds jumping. Then we praised the jumping. Today, we add: But you don’t have to jump. While showing Kotaku a build of 2011’s Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 last week, a Capcom spokesperson let me know that you don’t need to jump in the new game. You…
Which actions in video games deserve points? Walking? Looking? Kicking a man off a ledge? Early 2011 first-person shooter Bulletstorm answers these questions. I tried a demo of the game at a showcase for upcoming EA games last week at a nightclub in New York. My findings: You get points for shooting bad guys. You…
The first Dead Space was quiet, too quiet. That, fans have said, is why they like it. That, fans have said, is why they worry a little about the louder, forthcoming sequel. Dead Space 2, we’ve reported before, will make players feel more heroic and powerful than they did in the original 2008 EA space…
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 has an optional control scheme that might horrify hardcore fighting fans. But please, the company recently pleaded, give “simple” mode a chance. For those of you (me!) who struggle to throw fireballs in fighting games and who fear they will never master the combos needed to perform the most dramatic finishing…

The $200 Windows Phone 7 telephones launching on November 8 will be a new portable gaming option, the first one compatible with aspects of Xbox Live. Here are eight 10 of the “launch wave” titles. Should Nintendo, Apple and Sony quake? Update: Two games added. A note about the phones in the following videos. The…
Who is talking about Eat Them, a game that lets you play building-destroying giants who can eat cows and cops? I’d not heard of the game until I saw it recently at a PlayStation showcase. Its art style is unforgettable. Eat Them is an upcoming PlayStation 3 downloadable game from development studio Fluffy Logic, and,…
Back in August we learned that the popular strategy series Age of Empires would return as, oddly, a colorful online game. Odd? Let’s look at 2011’s Age Of Empires Online in action, shot today in Manhattan. A Microsoft representative talked through a demo of the game for Kotaku during a showcase of the company’s upcoming…
The game formerly known as Heroes on the Move is now PlayStation Move Heroes. It’s still coming the the PlayStation 3 next year, still stars Jak, Daxter, Ratchet, Clank, Sly Cooper and Bentley. Still motion-controlled. Here’s a new level. I shot video of this PlayStation Move Heroes level late last week at a Sony event…
This week’s Sonic The Hedgehog 4 for Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is not identical to the iPhone version released last week. The controls are different, as are a couple of levels. This is one of the console-exclusives. I shot this level last week during a Sega showcase. Sonic The Hedgehog 4 is out…

Here in Manhattan Microsoft is celebrating Windows Phone 7 as it heads to launch. They invited us because this phone has an Xbox Live connection. Let’s liveblog this, shall we? Also, please check out the exhaustive Windows Phone 7 coverage by our pals at Gizmodo. They have piles of previews of the final hardware.
Today, I’m cheating. The adorable Marvel Family and the mid-assassination EzioAltair were from New York Comic-Con’s first day (see that day’s cosplay too). But I got them late and am adding them to this all-star bunch, which goes from Alan Wake to Zelda. Good job, cos-players!
When we last saw Square Enix’s Halo Reach statues in July, half of them weren’t painted. Now they all are. Half of Halo Reach’s Noble Team team will be available in statue form this fall; the other half in early 2011.
Word leaked on Friday that Marvel’s two new character reveals for Marvel. Vs. Capcom 3 would be Magneto and M.O.D.O.K. Now, see them in motion, brawling in the 2011 game courtesy of these trailers we shot at New York Comic-Con. Beware some cursing from the rowdy NYCC audience. They were excited, okay?
I made a vow to shoot video of all of the Gundam figures at Bandai’s booth at New York Comic-Con. Settle in for the video tour….
