Former Editor-in-Chief. Kotaku forever!

I wish I knew the answer, and I hope Nintendo remains motivated to publish such games. You seldom see much public clamor for these games. Here on Kotaku, traffic for stories about them is usually mediocre to bad (this BoxBoy review, for example, is drawing very few readers... oh well!). Read more

Oh, I meant to also point out that you can try the new Mario Odyssey levels in non-VR. You hold the Switch up and rotate your body to see the game world around you. Similar effect to the VR, but with an even greater sensation that any interesting things you can make Mario do are mostly happening pretty far away from Read more

The reviewer of this game (me) is a father of two-year-old twins, which severely cuts into my playing time, to say nothing of the impact of having to spend time running the site. Of current staffers who write reviews, the people who know the series best are me and Heather, and she was at GDC for the early part of the Read more

That’s a really good question. I’m not sure what positives the Clancy name and brand does for this game. Read more

I agree. I like some of the endgame concepts, such as the variation introduced by the invaded missions and the tieredtarget networks, but I was disappointed to see that you can’t hold onto the Control Points longterm. Read more

Yeah, the patriotism in the game is odd, because sometimes it does feel like they’re trying to appeal to jingoistic Americans. Other times, it’s like that True Patriot gear set they added that cycles enemies you shoot through special red, white and blue custom status effects. That’s an interesting game mechanic Read more

I hear you. Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy games can be pretty dry. I probably found the main missions of this game more memorable than you did. One tip for you, should you ever re-install it: look for any of the five Contaminated Zones, which are very nicely rendered areas that tell little stories through some scattered audio Read more

Now playing

Since JorRaptor’s video went live earlier this week, I’ve seen fans wonder if AC Vikings would work. The ship stuff might not be suited for naval combat. The villages the vikings would have been around might not be that interesting to climb. Vikings themselves aren’t known for their stealth.

All the entries were wonderful. Thank you, everyone, for making me part of so many amazing scenes! Read more

I don’t think it does, but, regardless, right as I published the piece, the developers said that riddle is bugged and will be fixed in the April 5 update. So probably no one’s getting that eighth ivory key until then. Read more

I’m in World Tier 1 now and am surprised how thin the overall story has been. I get that Division games seem built to deliver a lot of story through audio logs and whatnot, but there’s been so little about Keener or anything else that moves the plot forward. Clearing the Capitol stronghold didn’t really feel like the Read more

People are able to spot two of the hunters in the distance and one-shot them, but that doesn’t seem to be what the designers want you to do. They’d dropped masks when players killed them but didn’t drop ivory keys. Read more

Couldn’t we talk to him in the Campus as we upgraded it? I feel like I checked in with him a few times. Read more

I’m not that into their backstories and have been disappointed with the audio logs and echoes, compared to how into all that stuff I was with the previous Division. The enemies are tactically much more interesting than the previous games’, but their backgrounds aren’t doing much for me.  Read more

Yeah! Try to interact with anything that’s yellow in this game. I found a gate that was locked that had loot on the other side of it. The solution to unlocking the gate? Follow a yellow wire connected to the gate to a nearby tower and then snipe the lock from the tower. It’s all about the yellow stuff in this game. Read more

In a Eurogamer interview, Harrison says that to use it on a TV, you’ll need a Chromecast. Which is what we’d heard as well. We’re chatting with Harrison in a bit and will get as much more info as we can. Read more
