I’m sensing you think this should have been two posts, not one. You might be right. Would have really hit the second-phase idea more effectively. Read more

I will. But, briefly just for you for the moment:
- Dandara: just finished it, brilliant map/level design Read more
The developers told me that you can play the whole game with the basic pack and don’t have to buy the add-ons. I don’t know what kind of experience you’d have. From what I saw, the advantage to owning extra sold-separately toy (or digital) ships is that you can swap in a new ship if your main one is destroyed, without… Read more
Yes. This expansion starts tough! Read more
I’ve resisted the level skip option. Maybe I should just take it! Read more
Yeah. I didn’t finish Splatoon 2's campaign. I plan to, but had jumped to the Octo expansion because I wanted to try the newest thing. I immediately could tell that the expansion was tailored for people who had mastered the campaign and wanted something more challenging. Me? I just was enjoying going into this weird… Read more

If Nintendo developed based on comments sections, we’d have played a new Metroid sidescroller a decade ago, would have Waluigi announced for Smash and would be playing GameCube ports on Switch right now. Read more
Ah. What’s up with Nintendo making their DLC so hard? The Octo Expansion is brutal. Most of Breath of the Wild’s DLC was tough. They seem to like treating DLCs as ultimate challenges, I guess. I appreciate it, but I wish the Octo Expansion wasn’t quite as crushing as it is. I worry that if they ever do expand Mario… Read more
You’re confined to the ship, so they need to figure out how to have a lot of compelling things to do from the ship. It’s why I tried to mess with the PvE stuff as much as possible in the demo. There were some basic set-up quests, like picking up floating treasure, attacking specific ships and trying to lure a major… Read more
From what Fox told me, they’re working with consultants, a Japanese-born voice actor in the lead role and with Japan Studio. That may be enough for some, not for others, but to me at least says that if they do anything tone-deaf, it’ll be on them, because they clearly have people around who they should be bouncing… Read more
Prime 4 wasn’t playable at last year’s show and didn’t have a 2018 release date, so Yoshi’s absence is odd. I know some thing the game will be in the Treehouse Live show, but Trinen told me it’s not at the show. Which I assume means we won’t see it all. It’s a bummer for me because I’m not into multiplayer games that… Read more
The reactivation caches I mentioned might be for you. They explained them in the stream as being for people who hit level 30 (which you can do pretty easily just by playing through the campaign). They contain three full gearsets (Firecrest, Striker and one more (I thought they said “defense” but that’s not the name of… Read more
That was an editing error. In recent years, we’ve been writing “Did they deliver”, allowing the “they” to refer to whichever studio or publisher or platform-holder was making the promise. We meant to do the same thing here and have fixed it. Can’t blame Microsoft for EA whiffing on the Anthem release date, right? Read more
Thanks. Narelle filed prior to the announcement but we should have caught it. We have now thanks to you! Though the trailer I’m seeing says Sept 27. Read more

I was honored to have Patricia on the team all these years and will miss her a great deal. In announcing her departure to the team, I tried to sum up what a great talent she’s been, and I wanted to share that here, publicly, with Kotaku readers as well: Read more
