Right, I don’t mean to dismiss it out of hand, definitely. But I do think they have the burden of convincing younger players especially that the game can be as exciting as the competition, and the competition is stuff like The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4. I love Parasite Eve combat, that’d be a great place to start. Read more

Good point. I always enjoyed the Chrono Trigger fights, even though they’re still guilty of that, because at least the Tech system meant your party makeup was important. Read more

I neglected to mention the PC version of FFVII that was released in 2013, which I think also counts in favor of the point I was making. We have the option to play the game as it was originally made, so I’m in favor of Nomura and his team trying something new. Read more
