Yeah, Tim saw some of my stuff. Chris (Person) did too. Tim didn’t really build as much as I did though, so I didn’t catch many of his things. I made a real point of it: a bridge outside of the first city, a silly message near a plot-ruined bike, the aforementioned ziplines.

As I understand it, the game sort of culls Read more

Yeah, I’m literally waking up early for the morning shift tomorrow.  Read more

Yeah, I’ll jump in here too and say that we’re totally aware of the suckiness because it directly affects our work on the page.  Read more

Please be aware that this is pretty much all the space I have to work with. I don’t really have room for an IKEA such and such unless it’s pretty small. Maybe a peg board? Read more

Yeah, I’m for it. Have time, get the results you want, maybe avoid crunching to death. Seems good all around. Read more

My belief with games, movies or whatever else is that execution trumps concept. “Interdimensional elves” and “mutagenetic monster hunters” might sound silly but The Witcher makes them work because it is a well written game with amazingly likable characters.

Also: there’s the other stuff. Wild Hunt is where a lot of Read more

If anything else, The Last Wish is a very good place to start. Not necessary, but it offers some good context for things that crop up in the games. Read more

No, actually. My job is to tell you what I think but also what I feel. Objectivity is a myth. Read more

My job as a critic is to tell folks what I think. I think Wildlands is trash. I said so in my review and I stand by it here. This sometimes changes, by the way. When I reviewed Seige as a freelancer, I didn’t like it. Now? It’s grown into something far beyond that initial form. No Man’s Sky is maybe the most high Read more

Mmmm, that’s.... never going to be my metric for determining a game’s quality. The last thing I will ever, ever care about is how much product sold. Read more

Yeah, I know some folks who really like it and that’s 100% valid. For me, I walked away really disappointed. (Total aside: I do think that Wildlands is the better looking game. For whatever that’s worth.) Read more

It’s a big back and forth thing. I think this game has moments where it *totally* works! It’s just that you really need to dig around a lot of other stuff to get to those places. Read more

Santa Blanca’s explicitly a Mexican cartel that moved into Bolivia. I know Wildlands is set in Bolivia. Bolivia literally complained to France about the game. Read more

A few folks are saying this and I think I agree broadly when you phrase it like that. If anything else, I think about the 1943 version a lot. That noted, even how Wake Island was in BF3, I guess I always think of Metro as the “modern” Battlefield map. Read more

So, I actually had a lot of issues with Wildlands and I actually think Breakpoint has some quality of life improvements that make it better to play moment to moment. Not sure if that makes it better or notBreakpoint is mostly generic and I’d rather be playing something closer to GRAW or the original instead of this Read more

It has a few bits and pieces from things like The Division and Borderlands. There’s not much emphasis on finding OMG COOL GUNZ! but there’s loot rarity and gear score. (I’ve found the gear “grind” is present but the curve isn’t been too steep either. Maybe that changes near endgame.)  Read more

Because they’re f*ckin’ not, my guy. At no point have I felt that I need to buy anything to complete the game. You don’t need to. Repeat: you really, really don’t need to. You. Don’t. Need. To. Touch. This. Shit. And. Shouldn’t. I have played the game and I’m telling you: there’s no cause *ever* to buy anything from Read more
