Paradoxically, I love the good Call of Duty games (non-Treyarch), all thanks to my good friend GREAT ENCOUNTER DESIGN. Look at Modern Warfare’s near-flawless pacing, for instance. That game never pulls the same trick twice. Read more
It’s not. Plenty of games, from FEAR to Halo, have had great enemy AI. My game’s not there yet, but it’s definitely not taxing my programmers to create great AI now. It’s all about coming up with interesting behavior contrasts. Read more
