Yes, there’s a cooldown period between attacks, but it’s not like Secret of Mana where if you bash the A button you’ll just do weak 1% power attacks and never do any damage. You can rapidly tap A if you want. Had no idea about holding it down, though! That’s useful! A good thing that maybe should be in a manual. Read more
Yeah, Dexterity is apparently bugged, so I think it doesn’t actually affect anything other than Hawkeye’s skills? Read more
This is by and large information that’s straight out of the game’s Japanese manual—you’re supposed to know all this before you start. Read more

They do help with your magic defense, but I very rarely put points into them for my physical fighters; I’d rather boost their HP and attack power. Read more

Everybody seems to be getting to the end of the article and wondering what stylus they should buy. There was a whole paragraph in the story about which one I bought, with a link and everything! Here it is again. Read more
I have played Actraiser one million times, and I’m sure I’ll do it again soonish. Read more
I could definitely see replaying Alundra even though that technically falls outside of the 16-bit category. Hmm... Read more
I actually played all the way through Lagoon back in the day, but it’s another one where I tried to go back to it recently and... it did not age well. Read more
Beat it back in the day. Love the humor so much. But: Tried to play it recently and am really frustrated with how absurdly they raised the difficulty level - literally just plinking away at an enemy’s massive stash of hit points for minutes on end? No thanks. Maybe I’ll play the Japanese version. Read more
Yeah, I just wanted a copy of the UK version and this is what I ended up with off eBay! Read more
Got it for Christmas in 1994. Was a huge Mana fan. Put a few hours in and noped out - it wasn’t the Mana sequel I was hoping for! Plus I got Chrono Trigger the same day, and, well. Today, with a better understanding of what it is, I might be able to enjoy it more. Read more
I put a few hours into it on the SNK collection - it’s quite good, especially relative to other 8-bit games, although it got pretty grindy for me. Read more
I played a few hours of Soul Blazer but wasn’t really feeling it - it all felt a bit thin and repetitive to me, basically a too-early version of the ideas they’d later flesh out into Gaia and Terranigma. Read more
Yeah, this is a strong contender for the next one I play. As with Centy, I have always had it in mind but never played more than a few minutes. Read more
Unfortunately, you missed a lot! There was an interactive King’s Quest installation, an interactive demo of Yoko Shimomura’s music where you could turn tracks on and off, documents for Carol Shaw’s Polo game, and many more artifacts and interactive installations that told an extensive story about the many different… Read more
Unfortunately, this is one of those very rare exceptions on Switch. The game is split up into separate region-locked SKUs. So if you wanted to pay about $30 for the Japanese version, you could have those versions on Switch, but you do have to buy it separately. Read more
They will, apparently! Japanese versions are coming in a patch. I wish they’d done this the right way from the beginning, but better late than never. Read more
