So long as you look obviously different from the main Han Chinese and the 13 other minority groups in China (particularly the Uyghurs) you will stand out. Beijing/Shanghai/Guangzhou/Shenzhen have seen too many foreigners you will be fine there. Read more

China's relatively cheap compared to Japan and Korea. Wenzhou isn't as expensive as Beijing or Shanghai.
