Despite being considered by many to be the finest entry in the Growlanser series of Japanese tactical role-playing games, Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded for the PlayStation 2 never made it to this side of the globe. Atlus fixes that oversight this summer with the release of Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time for the PSP.

A renamed PSP port of the PlayStation 2 original, Wayfarer of Time is one massive chunk of tactical turn-based RPG, packed with more than 40 hours of gameplay with more than 40 possible endings. A land once nearly destroyed by celestial beings is threatened by those beings' return thousands of years later, and only the player and his stalwart group of adventurers can possibly save the day.

And while they aren't busy saving the day they can get to know one another, going on vacation, building relationships. A little dating sim never hurt anybody.

Outside of the anime cut scenes the game is completely speechless due to licensing issues, and the English script proved too large for Atlus to handle. I recommend speaking along in funny voices. It'll totally help.

Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time is coming to the PSP and PlayStation Network this summer, so upgrading to a Vita is no excuse.
