The ancient Egypt of the latest Assassin’s Creed game is a sprawling expanse of lush vegetation and vibrant wildlife. Some players apparently are satisfied with simply taking in the beauty though and instead keep hunting for bigger, and bigger challenges to overcome, like punching an elephant to death.
The battle elephant is one of the game’s most difficult enemies. There aren’t many of them, but if you happen across one your journey you might want to reconsider your path forward. They’re majestic but deadly.
One player decided to do the opposite, however, leaving a particular encounter with the majestic animal for late in their playthrough. The reason? They wanted to try and defeat it barehanded, on hard difficulty, cause why not?
Assassin’s Creed Origins’ battle elephants stick pretty closely to the charging archetype in video games more generally. They’ll flail, stomp, and occasionally run at you, inviting a pattering of attack, attack some more, and then run for your life. That’s more or less what YouTuber SPGamer did in their 10 minute wrestling match with the armored 13 ton creature.
Battle elephants are normally damage sponges, but the struggle feels especially futile when you’re putting up weapon-less damage numbers. Thirty seconds in and I thought the fight would never end. It did though, eventually, at which point SPGamer became an undisputed champion of...something.
