Steve Jobs has confirmed at WWDC 2010 that what Gizmodo got their hands on in April was the next iPhone - the iPhone 4. At 9.3mm wide it's the world's thinnest smartphone, with a front-facing camera and a 326 pixel per inch "retina display," a resolution never-before-seen on a phone, delivering 940x640 pixels and a contrast ratio of 800:1, four times better than the 3GS.
