When the 3DS launches in the US, there will be sixteen games available. In Europe, there will be thirteen. In Japan, there will be eight. In Australia? Think less.

Only a single Nintendo title will be available when the handheld launches on March 31, and that is Nintendogs + cats. It will be joined by Super Street Fighter IV, Pro Evolution Soccer 3D, Super Monkey Ball 3D and LEGO Star Wars III.

That's five games. Despite launching half a week later than the US. Steel Diver and Pilotwings Resort, two Nintendo games making launches elsewhere, are listed only as being "the next two Nintendo 3DS titles due for release with dates still to be confirmed".

Third-party games like Rayman 3D, Ridge Racer and Ghost Recon are listed only as "coming soon".

People used to regard the Aussie Dreamcast launch lineup, which featured only nine games (none of them from Sega), as the worst ever. For a future console to beat the 3DS, it will have to ship with live scorpions inside the box.
